Summer is finally here, which means it's officially backyard barbecue season!

Ladderball
Also known as "Blongo-Ball," this game puts a unique spin on the classic game of horseshoes. A Ladderball set consists of two plastic ladders, each with three rungs. Instead of tossing horseshoes, players take turns throwing "bolos," which are two weighted balls joined by a length of string. Points are earned when the bolo wraps around a rung of the opponent's ladder; each rung has a different point value. Games are won with 21 points exactly, so some strategy comes into play. Wiffle Ball Derby
Bring the ballgame to your backyard with the age-old Wiffle ball, available at pharmacies and chain stores everywhere. To play Wiffle ball derby, set a designated location as the home run marker. Batters take turns at the plate, and get 10 "outs," or non-home run swings, per inning. Each home run is worth one run. After a predetermined number of innings, the batter with the most runs wins the derby. Throw your own curveballs into the rulebook, such as "moon shot" home run targets that are worth multiple runs.
Bocce Ball
Bocce Ball can be played on virtually any outdoor surface, making it a great choice for barbecues, picnics, or even the beach. The rules are simple: the small target ball is tossed, and then players (or teams) take turns lobbing or rolling their bocce balls, attempting to land them as close as possible to the target.
