Border between Pakistan, India is world's most dangerous
If you ask people around or in the city of El Paso, Texas, they will undoubtedly say the most dangerous place in the world is the U.S. border between the cities of El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. An estimated 5,000 people -- mostly on the Juarez side -- have been killed by the drug cartel wars in attempts to gain supremacy in the drug trade.
If you ask someone with a more geocentric perspective, they are almost certain to say the border between Pakistan and India.
In 1947, nonviolent leader Mahatma Gandhi quietly told the British, "It is time for you to go." They left. That same year, western India split off into the Muslim-dominated country of Pakistan. The far-eastern portion -- also Muslim-dominated -- became East Pakistan and later the sovereign country of Bangladesh.
Most Muslims in India headed for Pakistan while most Hindus in Pakistan headed for India. During this mass migration, hundreds of thousands were killed by militant gangs of both faiths.
