Keeping our streets clean; hard-working mayors, priests and day care workers ...

"While shopping at Drug Mart on Bagley and Columbia roads last Friday, my bank envelope fell out of my purse without my knowledge. A kind, honest woman saw what happened, picked it up and handed it to the clerk in the pharmacy. I was paged while still in the store. I was so surprised when I was told what happened. I didn't get her name so I could thank her. I am a senior citizen who lives on a fixed income. I want this kind lady to know she will always be in my prayers."

"We should have more neighbors like the young women I observed at 8 a.m. Saturday morning walking with a plastic bag picking up trash from the street and walkways around Forest View Avenue and Sts. Robert and Williams in Euclid. It reminded me of the late 'Smoochie' Bill Gordon who I would see often jogging on Lakeshore Boulevard doing the same. Thank you for keeping our area of Euclid trash-less."

"I'm thankful for my oncologist for suggesting I get my generic cancer prescription filled at Costco pharmacy. They charge me only $55 for three months, another pharmacy charged $317 for one month, another pharmacy charged $93 for a month, and another pharmacy charged $68 for a month. And you don't have to be a member to use their pharmacy services."

"I am thankful to the men and women who drive the semis across our great land to deliver food and supplies. Years ago, I was driving my deceased father's car to Boston, and the radiator blew an hour out of Cleveland. The semi drivers came to my rescue that day, made sure I made it all the way to Boston, and taught me the rules of sharing the road. They are: Give them a flash of the lights when they are passing you to let them know they have a clear distance to move into your lane in front of you. When going down an incline, never get in front of them and never cut them off. Two rules -- very simple. They will always be there and will take you far. Also, it doesn't hurt to buy them a cup of coffee once in a while."

"I am thankful to St. Casimir Lithuanian Church for having the church service to remember the countless thousands of innocent people who were deported to Siberia from the Baltic countries (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia) by the Soviet NKVD (forerunner of the KGB) on June 14, 1941. Men women and children were stuffed on to cattle cars for the two-week trip to Siberia. Stops were only made to throw out bodies of victims who had died. A book called 'Between Shades of Gray' describes these atrocities in vivid detail. We must never forget.

Ignatius of Antioch for Today « A 'Goula Blogger

(1) It is better to be silent and be real, than to talk and not be real. It is good to teach, if one does what one says. Now there is one such teacher, who “spoke and it happened”; indeed, even the things which he has done in silence are worthy of the Father. (2) The one who truly possesses the word of Jesus is also able to hear his silence, that he may be perfect, that he may act through what he says and be known through his silence. (3) Nothing is hidden from the Lord; even our secrets are close to him. Therefore let us do everything with the knowledge that he dwells in us, in order that we may be his temples, and he may be in us as our God—as, in fact, he really is, as will be made clear in our sight by the love which we justly have for him.
