Oh oh oh: Bubba Watson's the sole Golf Boy to make U.S. Open cut
Bethesda, Md. -- The Golf Boys had fun making and promoting their pre-U.S. Open rock video but Bubba Watson will have to carry on at Congressional without his backup band.
With a second-round 4-over 75 to match his opening 71, the camouflage-clad Watson made the cut on the number (4-over) to earn a 10:10 a.m. tee time with Robert Karlsson. In the meantime, the boy band trio of Hunter Mahan, Rickie Fowler (each at +5) and Ben Crane (+10) will have more time to bone up on their musical skills as they packed up their instruments after Friday’s second round.
Other notables heard slamming their trunks included Adam Scott, who attracted interest not necessarily for his play but for the guy lugging his bag around Congressional . Steve Williams, Tiger Woods’ long-time looper, received permission from his ailing employer to haul Scott’s broomstick putter and his other weapons around the course this week. The new partnership yielded a two-day tally of 5-over (74, 73).
